The TOP 5 No-Limit Cash Game Books
1) Harrington on Hold'em, Volume 1 by Dan Harrington Actually this book is about tournaments but according to the similarities it is also very useful in cash games. Actually it is a book every No-Limit player should read! 2) Phil Gordon's Little Green Book: Lessons and Teaching in No Limit Texas Hold'em by Phil Gordon und Howard Lederer A very good No-Limit cash game book. The most common situations are described short but precise. 3) No Limit Hold'em: Theory and Practice by David Sklansky and Ed Miller This book explains the fundamental theoretical and mathematical aspects behind No-Limit Hold'em. 4) Pot-Limit & No-Limit Poker by Stewart Reuben and Bob Ciaffone A book that not only covers the aspects of Texas Hold'em, but has a short but very good part about Texas Hold'em. The rest of the book is just average. 5) The Theory of Poker by Davind Sklansky The classic. Here you will find an analytic approach about poker in general (not only Texas Hold'em) The TOP-5 NL Tournament books 1) Kill Phil by Blair Rodman and Lee M. D. Nelson This book is a great introduction for NL tournaments. It offers you a fundamental introduction about the basics. Especially the strategies for Short-Stacks are really interesting. 2) Harrington on Hold'em, Volume 1 by Dan Harrington, Bill Robertie A "must-read" books for NL tournament players! 3) Harrington on Hold 'em, Volume 2 by Dan Harrington, Bill Robertie Also a "must-read" books for NL tournament players! 4) Phil Gordon's Little Green Book by Phil Gordon This is a great addition (also for NL cash games) 5) Tournament Poker for Advanced Players by David Sklansky It’s out of date, but explains some interesting theoretical concepts that are really important for NL tournaments. Best books for Limit Hold'em Hold'em Strategy 1) Winning Low-Limit Hold’em by Lee Jones A solid book with all the basics. You will find a detailed Pre-Flop, Flop, Turn and River strategy in this book. In places the recommended tactics are a bit to weak. But all in all a very good beginners book. 2) Internet Texas Holdem by Matthew Hilger Very good book for beginners and intermediates. The material is explained very detailed and well structured. Some sample hands are not played perfectly. But in the end a very useful book 3) Small Stakes Hold'em by Edward Miller, David Sklansky and Mason Malmuth The Hold'em bible for intermediates. Excellent part of theory, explaining all the principals which are necessary to beat all limits including $3/$6. For beginners this book can be dangerous because the playing style described here is a little to aggressive and is often misunderstood. 4) Weighing the Odds in Hold'em Poker by King Yao Excellent book for intermediates. This book has an analytical approach, that means, all strategies are explained by the use of mathematical analyses. The book includes great analyses about the topics semi-bluffing, value-betting and free-cards + a very good chapter about short-handed Hold'em. 5) How Good Is Your Limit Hold'em? by Byron Jacobs, Jim Brier The must-have book for everybody who wants to go above the $2/$4 Limit. It goes especially into the details of the strength and weakness of your opponents. The book is written in a quiz format and consists of 25 sample hands, which are described and analyzed very detailed. Psychology and Bankroll-Management 6) Professional Poker by Mark Blade The best book covering the self-management part as a poker player. A definite must-have for everybody considering to earn money with poker. 7) Ace on the River by Barry Greenstein Another book about self-management as a poker player. The main focus of this book is to avoid psychological leaks which keep you from earning the max profit. Theory 8) The Theory of Poker by David Sklansky The classic. Here you will find an analytic approach about poker in general (not only Texas Hold'em) Book 1) is a book for everybody, also for people who never ever played poker before. Book 4), 5), 6), 7) and 8) should follow once you've reached the $1/$2 Limit and you are thinking about earning a regular income with poker. Advice: In books 1 to 3 you should skip the preflop section!
